Carbon/Graphite Seated Valves
Carbon/Graphite Seated Valves are designed for high-temperature liquid applications. They are ideal for high flow situations that might distort or tear seats made of other materials. Carbon/graphite’s natural characteristics create a low-friction film that prevents overheating if the interface becomes dry. The material is nearly chemically inert and self-lubricating.

Technical Data
- Testing: Seats tested with water to meet ANSI/FCI 70-2 Class V requirements
- Cycle Test: Passed 10,000-cycle hot oil test at 650°F
- Stem Material: Select sizes include special 17-4PH stainless steel
- Extended Stem/Bracket: Available for manual and actuated valves for high-temperature insulation
Advantages
- Temperature Stability: Performs well in temperature swings from start-up to 700°F
- Chemical Stability: Chemically inert in most environments, except strongly oxidizing ones
- No Swelling: Does not swell when exposed to fluids, unlike some polymer-based seals
- Low Friction: Creates a low-friction film to prevent overheating and damage
- Favorable Expansion Rates: Expands less than surrounding metal, reducing torque build-up
- Live-loaded Stem Packing: Increases stability in temperature swing applications
- Custom Features: Options for extended stems and brackets for insulation
